Big shout out to trees for keeping us alive. Not only do they provide oxygen and limit the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, they also stabilise our environment and grow the food we eat.
To say thanks to our photosynthesis-loving friends, we are getting involved in Planet Ark’s National Tree Day, and we are donating a tree for every core woodworking product sold via our Australian, Canadian and American webstores.
With each core woodworking purchase, we will donate to either One Tree Planted (in Canada and the US) and Carbon Neutral (in Australia). These initiatives aim to restore and rehabilitate forests to ensure they have a sustainable future.
Whenever we talk about sustainability, Kevin seems to appear like magic. He’s generally reminding us to purchase timber from sustainable sources and not to discard scrap wood because it could be turned into something beautiful.
Sustainable forestry practices ensure that when a tree is removed, it is replaced by another, allowing the level of harvest to match the annual level of growth. Of course, sustainability is not just about numbers of trees but also about ensuring there is no damage to biodiversity or to other wildlife.
